The Tenor Viñas Contest has announced the 65 singers who will advance to the second round
In every edition, the Gran Teatre del Liceu announces public the results of the preliminary auditions held throughout the month of November 2024 in the co-organizing theaters and organizers.
65 singers from different countries have been selected by the most prestigious and emblematic opera houses in the world: Metropolitan Opera House of New York, Opéra national de Paris, Los Angeles Opera, Royal Opera House of London, Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Teatro Real in Madrid, National Centre for the Performing Arts of Beijing and Deutsche Oper of Berlin.
Those selected in these November preliminaries will go on to the second round, along with the singers selected from among the 276 contestants who will participate in the preliminary audition at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, which will take place from January 15 to 17, 2025.
The second audition and the semi-final of the competition will be held at the Conservatori Superior de Música del Liceu between January 19 and 22, 2025. And the grand final will be held on Friday, January 24 at the Gran Teatre del Liceu at 3 pm. [See calendar].
This year, the prestigious international singing competition has reached its highest number of entries ever. This remarkable increase underlines its growing worldwide recognition. Among the 61 countries represented are South Korea with 174 participants, the United States with 65, China with 39, Russia with 33 and, finally, Spain with 33 (8 from Catalonia).
There is a higher number of sopranos, with 244, compared to 88 tenors. The 65 singers have been selected from among 369 candidates who registered for the preliminary international auditions.
